Kaduna: House member dies three days after inauguration

A member representing Chikun Constituency in the Kaduna House of Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Madami Garba Madami has died.

He died on Saturday morning at a hospital where he was receiving treatment in Kaduna.

The 10th State Assembly members were inaugurated on June 13, 2023, and the late member was unable to participate due to his illness.

A statement issued on Saturday in Kaduna by the Chief Press Secretary to governor Uba Sani, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, said the Governor expressed shock over his death.

It said that the Governor, who was informed about Madami’s demise, commiserated with his immediate family and the people of Chikun Constituency, noting that the lawmaker was known for promoting peaceful coexistence and was greatly respected.

The Governor prayed to God to grant the soul of Madami eternal rest and comfort his family, associates, friends and constituents he left behind.

The statement explained, “In his lifetime, Madami served as member, representing Chikun Constituency, in the Kaduna State House of Assembly; Chairman of Chikun Local Government Area; Commissioner for Planning and Budget and Special Adviser Political, to Late Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa.”
