Catholic faithfuls all over the world are known for their deep respect religious traditions in the church. One of those is the tradition of engaging in lent, which is the period preceding Easter celebration.

During Lent, members of the Catholic Church do not engage in certain practices in commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Accordingly, there are a number of things which the members of the Catholic Church are not allowed to do during the period of Lent. Some of these things are prohibited by the church while others are individual decisions.

During Lent, Catholics believe that they have to also suffer the travails that Jesus Christ suffered before his death and subsequent rising up from the grave.

1. Abstinence From Eating of Meat:

Some Catholics abstain from eating meat at their various homes due to the fact that they see meat as a type of enjoyment which they should not take part in. Especially while they are remembering the time when Jesus himself suffered.

3. No Dancing or Excitement In Church:

While lent is ongoing, members of the Catholic Churches around the world are prevented from singing joyous hymns or dancing joyfully during masses. This is because such acts portray that the members are rejoicing at the same period that Christ experience suffering.

2. Abstinence From Sin:

During Lent, Catholics abstain from all vestiges of sin. They refrain from telling lies, and commiting any kind of immoral sin, even some couples who are married also adhere to this rule of abstinence.
