No Brits for Nigerians: Burna Boy, Asake, Rema Miss Out on Awards

Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy and his colleagues, Asake and Rema failed to clinch an award at the UK’s highest profile music awards ceremony, Brit Awards.

 

The Nation reported the duo of Burna Boy and Asake was nominated in the Best International Act of the Year category but lost to American star, SZA.

While Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ also lost the gong for the Best International Song of the Year to Miley CyrusFlowers.’

This year’s edition held at London’s 02 Arena over the weekend.

Despite the loss, Rema closed the ceremony with an electrifying performance of his hit song, ‘Calm Down.’

He became just the second African artist to perform at the BRITs after Burna Boy who performed at the ceremony in 2019.

Meanwhile Raye has extended her record as the artist with the most wins in one year in BRITs history.

She garnered six awards last night, including Best New Artist, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best R&B Act and Songwriter of the Year.
