• Davido lands MTV Europe Music Awards nomination

This year is indeed a great one for Davido seeing as he keeps racking in award nominations which he eventually wins!

Mere days after winning at the NEAs, Davido has been announced as one of the contenders for the Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards set to hold in Glasgow Scotland, on the 9th November 2014. Read more

• 2face & Wizkid to headline Hennessey Artistry 2014

It has been confirmed that 2face and Starboy Wizkid will be the front-runners for this year’s Hennessy  Artistry.

The popular music platform known for its art of blending, has featured some of the biggest names in the Nigerian music industry and this year we will be treated to a no doubt interesting collaboration between international star 2face and Wizkid. Brand manager for Hennessy Nigeria, Lere Awokoya explained the reason for picking these two superstars  saying, “They both appeal to different kinds of fans and having 2Face and Wizkid release their first-ever collabo will definitely shake the African music scene.”

• Tiwa Savage, Davido & Diamond Platnumz for Africa Unplugged

Tiwa Savage and Davido will be headlining the Africa Unplugged concert alongside Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz on the 14th of September at at the 02 Brixton Academy in London and on the 21st of September 2014 at the RITZ Manchester.

The festival`s main objective is to promote ONE AFRICA: UNITED with this year`s awareness campaign focusing on Africa`s struggle against child trafficking and child abuse. The campaign was chosen on behalf of the missing Chibok schoolgirls in Nigeria. Africa Unplugged supports and voices out to #BringBackOurGirls.

Also in the line-up of performers are Britain`s Got Talent`s CEO dancers, dance groups AFRIKA, D3 and PROJECT G. The official DJ is Capital Extra`s Afrobeats pioneer DJ Abrantee.

• Wedding Bells for Omawumi!!!

Finally! After keeping mum about her baby daddy Toyin Yusuf for so long, the long-time lovers are now officially engaged.

The new first broke out when her close pal Waje, shared a picture of Omawumi’s engagement bling on Instagram. Though we were skeptical about the news, the picture Omawumi shared afterwards of her family changed our minds quickly.

She said, “I’m of the opinion that I don’t owe anyone any explanation. Just as I’m not prompted by pressure to reveal, I’m also not prompted pressure to be discreet… I’m just me, and right now I’m deliriously happy to (officially) share my world with the ones I love…. Thank you to those who loved me nonetheless and thank you my loves!”

• Shaydee signs endorsement deal with Metro Taxi

Shaydee has also joined the league of ambassadors. The young chap signed under EME record label, has signed a nice contract with Metro Taxi is Nigeria to become one of their lead brand ambassadors.

Ladies` man, Shaydee has just signed an extensive endorsement deal with Nigeria`s leading taxi brand, Metro Taxi. Shaydee is a signed artiste on Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) alongside hit makers Banky W, Wizkid and Niyola.

“I am happy to be part of this brand and the revolution in making life easier for Lagosians and others,” said Shaydee. “As I see see them grow and expand across the country, I am excited to be part of this success story.”

The singer who maintains a strong connection to the streets released his second official single ”˜Ti E Nikan` for Valentine`s Day earlier this year and has his new video for ”˜Chakam` on heavy rotation across MTV Base and other stations.

The photo pictures Shaydee looking cool with his manager Michael Umoru of Gidigroove media and Mr Omowale Oladitan of Metro taxi, signing off the contract. He is managed by ”“ GidiGrooveMedia and Metal Entertainment.

• Aramide joins Baseline Music

Soulful singer Aramide has joined a new record label. The musician who was previously signed to eLDee`s Trybe Records before she released music as an independent artist became the latest artiste singed to Baseline Music.

According to her, “Baseline Music is home, we are able to bounce ideas and share creative opinions about where the Aramide brand is and where we are going. I am excited about my next steps.“

• Hurray!!! Beat FM clocks 5

September 9, 2014 marked urban radio station Beat FM 99.9’s 5th year anniversary. As expected, lots of stars turned up to show love for the station from Timaya, Mo’Cheddah, Illbliss, Faze, Sound Sultan, Suspekt, Phyno, Eva, Omawumi, Skales, Skuki, Waje to Cynthia Morgan, Basketmouth, Isaac Gerald, Sarz DJ Spinall, Bovi, Eminiic and Jaywon amongst others.

Beat FM programme Director, Olisa Adibua said, “It has been five wonderful years and we are humbled by the way we have been accepted by the public in a very short space of time. Our aim for the station was to become an integral part of our community and we will like to think that we have achieved this. The activities we have lined up for the month of September are to say thank you and give back to the community that has been so generous and loyal to us. We hope that everyone will come out to celebrate with us”.

They were also hosted at Industry Nite with all the OAP’s present alongside big names in the business at Spice Route, VI Lagos on the 10th of September. To round up the week long activities marking their anniversary, a Unity Concert has been slated for the 30th of September at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island.

• Gospel singer, Kenny Saint Brown running for House of Assembly

The singer has joined other celebs like Julius Agwu, Kate Henshaw, Yibo Koko, Desmond Elliot, Bob Manuel Udokwu and 9ice, who are taking their political ambitions to the next level.

Although she made her political ambition public few weeks ago, KSB recently unveiled her 2015 campaign poster to show her seriousness. Based on reports, she has confirmed her intention to run for the Ikeja Constituency 1 slot in the Lagos State House of Assembly under APC.

It is however unclear if she intends to continue with her music career.
