Global Warming and Climate Change
Global Warming and Climate Change

Over decades, the issue of global warming and climate change has left the entire world in a state of confusion. It is undeniably noted that the world is hotter than it was twenty decades ago. Although, global warming and climate change are sometimes used interchangeably the two terms do not connote the same meaning.

Global warming is the long-term heating of the earth's surface. This was observed since the Pre-Industrial period between (1850-1900). Global warming evolves as a result of unhealthy human activities such as the incessant burning of fossil fuels on the other hand, Climate change refers to the long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns.

Understanding the differences between these two terms is pertinent but knowing the causes of Global warming and climate change will aid us involve in healthy activities that will in turn reduce the severity of damage we produce in the environment

Human activities that we engage in that cause or lead to climate change include:

a. Burning of fossil fuels

b. Illegal logging down of trees

c. Food production

d. Use of transportation

The aforementioned above are some of the causes of global warming and climate change. Having known the causes it is relevant you know the preventive measures on how to lead a green lifestyle that will not produce or cause damage to the environment.

Preventive Measures for Global Warming and Climate Change:

Use of Sustainable Energy

Sustainable energy is derived from resources that can maintain current operations without hampering the energy needs or climate through its long-term usage.

Recycling of Waste

Recycling waste will help reduce the amount of carbon monoxide produced in the air which in turn will promote air quality.

Afforestation of Trees

Trees are good at trapping carbon dioxide. They send out oxygen and take in carbon dioxide. Planting and maintaining trees will enhance the air quality and reduce the effect of climate change.

Establishing of Heavy Industries in Sparsely Populated Areas

Industries that produce fossil fuels in their manufacturing process should not be built in densely populated areas. Also, filters should be added to the chimneys in order to reduce the large amount of fossil fuels emitted into the air.

NOTE: It is suitable to know that scientists, environmentalists, and governments are working immensely to eliminate the adverse effects of global warming and climate change thus, it will be of great interest if we join hands in creating a safe and green environment.
