Napoli President Names Club That Can Afford Victor Osimhen

The president of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has revealed the European club that can afford to buy his priced asset, Victor Osimhen this summer.

Victor Osimhen is arguably the hottest player in the transfer market currently, thanks to his prolific form in the 2022-2023 season.

Recall that the 24-year-old Nigeria international scored 26 goals and provided 5 assists as he helped Napoli win the Italian Serie A title for the first time in 33 years.

Since the season ended, he has attracted interest from top clubs across the world, especially from Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

Amidst the interest from the aforementioned clubs, De Laurentiis has always insisted that he does not plan to sell the Nigerian prolific striker.

However, he recently confessed that if an “indecent” offer is made for Victor Osimhen this summer, Napoli would have to let their talisman leave.

As a follow-up to that, De Laurentiis told Mediaset that he is expecting a bid of around £170 million from Osimhen’s suitors and that only one club could afford such a price tag.

The Italian businessman noted that a club like French Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint Germain are the only side in Europe that can afford such a price tag currently.

He said: “The only club that could afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint-Germain.

“If Nasser Al Khelaifi [PSG president] wants to send in a bid around £170m, we wait and see what happens. I think that Victor will stay here.”

PSG have reportedly made Victor Osimhen their primary target in anticipation that their talisman Kylian Mbappe who has refused to extend his contract with the French side would be sold this summer.

If the ongoing contract tussle between Mbappe and PSG continues and the French side succeeds in selling the Frenchman this summer, Osimhen who made his name at French Ligue 1 club Lille, could return to France ahead of the 2023-2024 season.
